Illustration made to celebrate the 70th anniversary of H.P.Lovecraft's death and collaborate to the exhibition project "An exhibition of unspeakable things" of the Maison d'Ailleurs, Museum of science fiction (in Switzerland), based on a text by writer H. P. Lovecraft – the Commonplace Book. This work by Lovecraft will be used as the basis for illustrations produced by brilliant comics authors/illustrators. This one, called "The mummy" is based on note 190 of the "Commonplace book".

The exhibition will open on 27th October at the Maison d'Ailleurs, so actually I'm busy with this project and I would like to make two or three illustrations more to commemorate such an important anniversary.

It also suggests the mummy of T'Yog who briefly regains mobility after some 200,000 years when the scroll is shown to its face. I'll stop here -because I think you read "Out of the Eons". Tho it's alleged to be a collaboration, I think it's almost wholly Lovecraft.

You will find this story in the Arkham house book "The Horror in the Museum and other Revisions" by H.P.Lovecraft . I have the original edition 1970 (4000 copies printed),but the current edition may have a few added stories. The revisions range from mere spelling and grammatical corrections and wording changes to strengthen the story, to tossing in Mythos references ,to wholly the work of Lovecraft taking a summary paragraph of the plot by the "other author" and letting his imagination run wild ! (The Mound).

I love it. It has wonderful detail but not to much either.

I had to render a skeleton inside a cristal cage to reference the reflections!
